Back in March I announced that I was selected to be Society of Illustrators student exhibition, and in May I attended the exhibition opening! It was an awesome night- I am so honored to have been able to show my work with so many skilled illustrators!

Olympic Poster Features!
So a lot has been going on in my life lately- both good and bad.
August honestly went by in a blur, and I can't believe September is
already coming to a close... where did the time go?
I've had some great luck with selling my Olympic poster prints, and have even gotten featured on some really great blogs/websites/publications, so I figured I'd post some links here if anyone wants to take a look! They also spread around Facebook a fair bit, getting mentioned by some very awesome people including but not limited to Sidelines Magazine, The Chronicle of the Horse, and the USDF (United States Dressage Federation)! Quite cool!

On an unrelated note- don't worry! I'm still drawing and working hard... I even have a piece that will be featured in a full color Sailor Moon zine that's in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

London 2012 Olympics Aquatics Poster.
So this is the last poster I made for the London 2012 Olympics in my Independent Study, this time it's representing the Aquatics division of the games! Swimming competitively was a big part of my life from age 7 to 18, but after graduating from High School (and after serving 4 years on my school's varsity swim team) I knew I wasn't fast enough to have it really take me anywhere farther. Although I don't compete in swimming events anymore the sport is near and dear to my heart, so I was quite jazzed to work on this piece. The background features the London Eye, and the pattern used in this piece was based off of one found on this vintage English teapot.

London 2012 Olympics Athletics Poster.
This is another poster from my Independent Study with Daniel Krall! This time it's representing the Athletics division of the Olympics. Our runner is sprinting past Saint Paul's Cathedral (which is toting a pattern I based off of this antique English chair). I had a lot of fun with this, but for me the most difficult part was the scale of the figure- most of my sketches tried to include the entirety of his body, but it wasn't really giving me the aesthetic/the composition I wanted/that looked best.

London 2012 Olympics Equestrian Poster.
Another poster for the London 2012 Olympics, this time representing the Equestrian disciplines featured in the Olympic Games. I incorporated a pattern referenced from this antique English chair in my hand lettering, and the horse is jumping the famous Tower Bridge! In this poster the hardest part was figuring out a way to balance what details of the architecture to include and what to ignore but I think I found a successful way to go about it! I am a competitive horseback rider so doing this poster was nothing short of an absolute pleasure- when I have the opportunity to draw horses/riders, I take it!

London 2012 Olympics Gymnastics Poster.
So this year I did an Independent Study with the super cool dude and great illustrator Daniel Krall. Through the semester he and I worked together while I made four posters for the London 2012 Olympics which I am crazy pumped for! My concept was to integrate patterns found on antique/vintage objects made in England, architecture found in London, and a person performing an event found in the Olympics- this one is for Gymnastics, and features Big Ben's clock face. The floral pattern was based off of an antique English teacup- you can see the post I made about it here. In each poster I limited the amount of colors I used, and variations of the colors can be seen in not only the Olympic rings but the flag of England. It was really hard to do- making simple yet effective posters is no walk in the park, but I'm incredibly happy with how they turned out and I learned a lot!
